Mike was seven years old when his father was killed in Afghanistan under unclear circumstances. Mike’s mother is overworked and overprotective eight years later; his younger sister Mary has no connection to the father she barely remembers; and Mike knows he’s missing out on everyday high school life in his quest to be “the man of the family.”
