The city’s elite have fled, sealed it behind barriers, and abandoned it to crumble. The inner city has had to rediscover archaic modes of life, such as farming, bartering, and herbal knowledge. However, the wealthy now want a harvest of bodies, so they prey on the helpless of the streets. With nowhere else to turn, a young woman is forced to embrace ancient truths, everlasting powers, and the sad mystery that surrounds her mother and grandmother. She must make deals with gods and create new stories.
