This book is part biography, part companion to the Taxpayers’ jazz-punk record of the same name, and it explores the life of a complicated person. Henry Turner went from being a hometown hero as the star pitcher for the Georgia Tech Wildcats in the late 1970s to being an aggressive, alcoholic vagabond. Turner used his demons to his advantage, becoming a gentle, beloved street storyteller, a friend to the underprivileged, and an angel of public transportation after spending his final years in homeless encampments and psychiatric facilities.
